Entrepreneurship

The Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship is established at the College to offer programs that spur entrepreneurial activity throughout UH and the greater Hawaii community.

 

2001

Executive MBA program expands to Vietnam

Through a partnership with the Hanoi School of Business, the Vietnam Executive MBA program provided executives with the skills and abilities to succeed in a range of leadership positions. Since 2001, the program has graduated over 120 students. In 2007, a second site in Ho Chi Minh City was established.

2002

Kipapa i ke Ala Lecture Series

Silicon Valley executive and part-time Hawai‘i resident, John Dean, joined forces with the College to start the Kipapa I ke Ala Lecture Series. The series brings business experts from around the country to share their knowledge on everything entrepreneurial.

2006

Renaming of the College

In September 2006, the College was named after alumnus Jay Shidler, founder and managing partner of The Shidler Group. Shidler’s transformational gift of $25 million set in motion many changes which would transform the College into a top ranked public business school.

2007

New Look, New Programs, New Upgrades

In 2007, the College completed a major curriculum reform of its graduate programs and added several new programs including a new Full-Time Day MBA, China International MBA with Sun Yat-Sen University, U.S. International MBA, MBA/Nursing, Joint Master of Accounting with Waseda University, and a Vietnam Executive MBA in Ho Chi Minh City. Major campus renovations, landscaping and upgrades to the business building moved forward thanks to in kind donations from Jay Shidler.

2009

60 Years of International Excellence

In the fall of 2009, the College kicks off its 60th anniversary celebration. Throughout the year, special anniversary activities and events will be held for alumni and friends of the College including a special alumni Hall of Honor Awards banquet on October 15 which will reunite old classmates and commemorate the College’s 60th year.
