1971
Moving in to a new business building
In the fall of 1971, classes were moved from Hawai‘i Hall to the brand new Business Administration Building located on the corner of University Avenue and Maile Way.
1976
Opening of the Lum Yip Kee Graduate Reading Room
Dedicated on September 9, 1976 in memory of Lum Yip Kee (1866-1943), one of Hawai‘i pioneers in agriculture, merchandising, banking and land development, Lum Yip Kee Graduate Reading Room remains a popular refuge for students. The room was newly renovated in 2008.

1977

Establishment of the Pacific Asian Management Institute
In the summer of 1977, Dr. N.H. Paul Chung founded the Pacific Asian Management Institute (PAMI) with a core offering of international business courses. Today, PAMI is considered one of the top U.S. providers of international business programs with a Pacific Rim focus.
Launch of the Executive MBA
The Executive MBA was added to the College’s line up of programs in August of 1977. Forty-one students were enrolled in the first EMBA class. Many still keep in touch to this day and are actively involved with College events and activities.
