The debut of Business Night
Business Night began as a part of a week-long celebration with alumni, students and faculty. It was the only formal event to provide students with an opportunity to network with business professionals. Today, Business Night continues to match up students with business professionals and provides over $40,000 in student awards each year.
1967
Undergraduate program receives accreditation
The undergraduate program was accredited in 1967 by AACSB International - the premier accreditation body for business and accounting institutions. In 1996, the MBA program also received accreditation. Today, Shidler’s MBA program is the only AACSB accredited MBA program in the state of Hawai‘i.
School of Travel Industry Management
The School of Travel Industry Management was created in the College of Business as the first program of its kind to focus on the area of hotel/restaurant management, tourism and transportation. Due the schools substantial growth in faculty, programs and graduates, the Board of Regents approved stand-alone status for the school in July 1991.
